In 1965, a sickly teenage girl named Sun-yi (Park Bo-young) moves to a remote village for her health. There, she discovers a feral, beast-like boy (Song Joong-ki) living in a makeshift cage. Unable to speak or behave like a human, he is feared by the locals. Sun-yi, out of curiosity and boredom, adopts him, naming him "Chul-soo."
