Microsoft’s strategy has been a carousel of incompetence. In 2016, they re-released Gears of War 4 on the Windows Store. It was a disaster—crashes, save wipes, and a player base that evaporated within weeks. Then Gears 5 arrived on Steam. It was good! Optimized, cross-play, everything we wanted. The Coalition proved they could do it. For me, that game is Gears of War 3
So where is Gears 3 ?

Gears 3 runs on a heavily modified Unreal Engine 3—a version that was never designed for modern Windows 11 architectures, DX12, or variable refresh rates. Porting it would cost millions.
