A servant runs inside. “A man is dying at the gate. He says his name is… Devdas.” Paro hears. She is older now, her hair streaked with grey. She is grinding sandalwood again—a ritual she never stopped.
Paro’s wedding. She marries a widower, Bhuvan Choudhry, an old zamindar with grown sons. The telegram arrives: “My bangles are broken. You broke them. – Paro.” Devdas reads it seven times.
