From above, the tangled underside transformed into a stunning image: a royal garden with a river of gold, a tree of life bearing fruit, and a phoenix rising from ashes. What looked like random black threads from below was, from above, the deep outline of the phoenix’s wing. The grey knots became the roots of the tree. The crowd gasped.
