Halfway through, the dashboard lights flickered. The fuel gauge dropped to empty. Then rose again. The LCD cycled through nonsense characters. Then, clearly:
“Now what?”
Elara reached out and pressed her palm flat against the hot metal of the dashboard. “I know,” she whispered. “The ground isn’t lying. The sky is.”
