The feature is designed to address a common limitation of the current version (lack of luminosity masking within the plugin) while staying true to its filter-based, intuitive workflow. Feature Name: “Luminous Masking” (Per-Tonal Range Control) The Problem It Solves (Current State) Currently, Color Efex Pro 4 applies filters globally. If you want to apply the Brilliance/Warmth filter only to the shadows, or Detail Extractor only to the midtones, you must use cumbersome workarounds (apply the filter twice with layer masks in Photoshop). This breaks the non-destructive, fluid creative flow. The Proposed Feature A new control panel added to every filter in Color Efex Pro 4 called Luminous Range . This allows you to target any filter’s effect to specific tonal ranges (Shadows, Midtones, Highlights) with soft, natural transitions. How It Works (User Interface & Controls) Below the existing Control Points (U Point) panel, a new section appears:
