Pioneer Sc-85: Firmware Update

Extract the ZIP file. Inside, you will find a folder named AVR_SC85 . Do not rename this folder. Copy the entire folder to the root of your USB drive.

Turn off the SC-85 using the front panel power button (not the remote). Unplug the power cord for 30 seconds. Plug it back in. Copy the entire folder to the root of your USB drive

The screen will go dark. The front VFD will show WRITING . Do not touch the receiver for 25 minutes. Do not unplug the USB. If the power goes out during a firmware write, the SC-85 becomes a very heavy paperweight. A Warning on "Bricking" The SC-85 has a dual BIOS system, so it is hard to fully brick. However, users have reported that after the USB update, the receiver gets stuck in a "Boot Loop."
